Potlick Sports BCEEEEWTSWEX

by Slate Quicksilver

As promised, here is an overview of the Bracket Challenge of Excellence, Explosions and Extraneous Examples of Words that Start With "EX!" pool. (/cue face melting guitar solo with explosion)

Pools, and the brackets that make them up, are nothing more than guess work. Oh sure. You do some research. You look at some matchups, pick a few upsets, see who beat who during the regular season... that kind of stuff.

But in the end, it's almost always the opposite of what you thought would happen. No, that 13 seed actually stood no chance against that 4 because they came from a laughably bad conference regardless of their 20 game winning streak. And yes, you should have just picked the favorite in the second round because the underdog they were playing was lucky to even be in the tournament, much less making it out of the first round.

We here at PLS do our due diligence and do brackets. We research, like you, and fail, like you. We don't have any expert knowledge above what ESPN and yahoo.com tell us, and we follow our gut, like you. But we also do awesome brackets.

We will have (to be posted later)...
From Iroquois: A "practice" bracket
-"Chalk" bracket
-A bracket where the winner is picked by who would taste better in a sandwich and maybe even a real bracket with some effort.

From Annie: A real bracket
- A bracket which is somehow oriented towards puppies

From Slate: A real bracket
- A homer bracket where all the winners are picked on who he likes and hates
- A mascot battle bracket wherein the winner is based on who would win in a fight
- A bracket done by his mother.

There could be more, as time permits, but we will keep everyone posted with the standings and the logic behind our picks once we can post them.

In the end we will compare these to national averages and you can compare them to yours. If any of the weird ones do better than you, you should probably never do one again.

(spoiler alert: The Mascot Battle Bracket has all #1 seeds going down in the first round. Not sure how well that one will do...)
